Five Major Contributions
S.No.Major Contribution
1 Under the project “Impact assessment of improved technologies: Addressing the technology adoption in coconut and arecanut cultivation’ applied Tobit regression model for understanding the factors in adoption using the primary data collected on technology adoption aspects in cultivation of coconut in sample farm households in Kerala. The marginal and conditional marginal effects of determining variables were estimated to study the impact of variables on adoption. Determinants analysis for technology adoption regarding hybrid palms and intercropping was studied using Logit regression and estimated the probability of adoption and marginal effects in coconut.
2 Under the project “Studies on marketing, price analysis and international trade of coconut, arecanut and cocoa” studied the spatial price integration in domestic and world market of cocoa by applying co-integration regression. Determined integration level of every variable selected and estimated co-integration relation. Tested the residuals for their stationarity to check for price movements in different markets. Applied Dickey fuller unit root test and Phillips – Oularis co–integration approach for the analysis.
3 Under the Project ‘Impact assessment of institutional interventions on quality seed production system under ICAR Seed Project’analyzed crop wise triennium average productivity of major cereals, pulses and oilseeds in the country using secondary data. The results were compared with the yield values of the year 1989. Analyzed crop wise Seed Multiplication Ratio (SMR). Compared yield and SMR data obtained from cooperating centers of ICAR seed project with old data. Percent change and compound average growth were computed. Estimated revised demand for breeder seed using backward estimation method. Using this revised quantity of breeder, foundation and certified seeds required were estimated.
4 Published 8 research papers in international and national journals. More than 15 abstracts and 3 training manuals were published / compiled during my service period. Published 10 technical bulletins/ book chapters and compiled 2 annual reports. Performed duties as in-charge of library advisory committee (IISS, Mau). Facilitated as chairperson of Institute Women Complaint Cell and acted as member of staff welfare fund committee, while serving at IISS, Mau.
5 Coordinated and organized an eight days trainers training programme for watershed development staff of different NGOs on ‘Scaling up of water productivity in Agriculture’ during 27.02.2012 – 05.03.2012 (Convenor) at CPCRI Kasaragod. Coordinated fourteen days ‘Trainers training programme on ‘Scaling up of water productivity in Agriculture during 14 - 27 January 2011 at CPCRI , Kasaragod. Facilitated in co-ordination of ‘executive training programme on post-harvest processing in plantation crops’ conducted at CPCRI during 31.01.11 to 03.02.11. Assisted in conductance of National training course under the NAIP consortium project ‘Strengthening statistical computing for NARS’ on “data analysis using SAS” during 16-01-2012 to 21-01-2012 at division of social sciences ,CPCRI, Kasaragod.
